Spices: Ginger, Cardamom, Turmeric...Spice it Up:Like to add massive anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant & digestion/metabolism boosting activity to your body each day? Sometimes we can get so consumed analysing calories, fat ratios, vitamin %’s etc, we forget about the unbelievable power of traditional herbs/spices - not the KFC variety!!! As a rule, we westerners don’t use spices nearly enough, so if you are not already, add some or all of the following into your cooking to start reaping some amazing benefits.
2. Turmeric – arguably the ‘most powerful cancer preventer/fighter’ in the world, natural anti-histamine, anti-septic – renowned for drawing toxins to it – great for cleansing liver etc. New research has shown that turmeric reduces alcoholic liver damage in rats. *Use only in small amounts – 4-5 pinch/day max. & don’t overheat. 3. Cardomom – warming herb – good for stomach & lung areas and settling mind generally – great for giving a nice ’sweetness’ – e.g adding to milky items – porridge, cereals etc. * Note – just use small (‘cooking’) amounts. Do not try and treat a condition you may have through a large quantity of a herb/spice. Consult a trained practitioner for any advice concerning a particular condition. ** If you would like an ‘Easy Spicing’ recipe sheet for knowing how to simply add a range of healthy spices to your vegie based meals – go to http://www.healthspeaker.com.au/dietnutritionrecipes.php?p=1 Wishing you a fantastic week - Enjoy.
